Corporate Review Department

The Corporate Review Department is based at Force Headquarters in Wakefield. The purpose of the department is to help the Force deliver an efficient, effective high quality service to the public and support the Force to achieve continuous improvement. Its principle aim is to assist those staff delivering front line policing services.

Corporate Review is headed by a Chief Superintendent, supported by a senior member of Police Staff as Head of Profession. This reflects the importance placed on delivering effective policing outcomes through the Department’s work while providing the very best professional corporate development and management expertise.

Operating in this way ensures the Force and Department’s organisational skills are operationally focussed and based upon sound management practices that are continually developed and updated.

The department has over 80 members of staff who are a mix of Police Officers and Police Staff.

The department provides a range of services and our main areas of work are:  

  • Assisting West Yorkshire Police to successfully plan and deliver a high quality service to the public and partners.
  • Identifying the challenges and opportunities impacting on the future business of the Force.
  • Advising and supporting Force Command Team Chief Officers in their decision making.
  • Planning and managing the delivery of organisational change.
  • Driving and supporting West Yorkshire Police performance management through the provision of relevant and timely data analysis and formal Operational and Corporate Performance Reviews.
  • Constant development of clear, concise and relevant policies, maintained on an easily accessible Policy Database.
  • Ensuring the Force manages information correctly and meets information security requirements, including the Data Protection and Freedom of Information Acts.

There are five key sections within Corporate Review. The main responsibilities of each are listed below.

    • Involvement in the performance management arrangements of Crime and Disorder and Criminal Justice partnerships at a District level
